Sudama Retreat

"There’s an old tale in Indian folklore about a poor man named Sudama who shared a deep friendship with the god Krishna. As Sudama's poverty worsened, his wife urged him to visit Krishna and ask for help. With nothing more than four handfuls of parched beaten rice to offer as a gift, Sudama set off to meet Krishna, feeling both hopeful and ashamed.

Upon arriving at Krishna’s palace, Sudama was welcomed with the utmost generosity. Krishna lavished him with the finest scents and perfumes, and together they reminisced about their childhood days. When Krishna inquired if Sudama had brought him anything, Sudama hesitated, too ashamed to reveal the humble gift. However, knowing everything, Krishna requested the rice to be brought to him immediately. Krishna savored each grain of the simple offering, declaring it to be his favorite food.

After the visit, Sudama left without asking for assistance, too embarrassed to voice his needs. But when he returned home, he was astonished to find that his modest home had been transformed into a magnificent palace."
